Showtime: 419 spammers perform the Monty Python Dead Parrot Sketch

9:51 pm

*I really don’t know what to say. Maybe it’s a scam. A fraud. A charade. Except it’s free, and didn’t ask me for money. I’m confused.

*Also, it’s three years old and only had 57,000+ hits. Surely it oughta have at least fifty million.

VI Piemonte Share Festival

*/SMART MISTAKES
/2nd-7th November, 2010*
Regional Museum of Natural Science, Turin

Every year, Share Festival seeks to explore a new and different theme, in an effort to broaden the mind, sharpen critical skills and give inspiration to creativity.

The VI Piemonte Share Festival this year will be looking at the artistic and cultural significance of technological and media error, biological mistakes and chance discoveries of all kinds. Hence the focus is on the role of error in the creative process.

*/Smart Mistakes
/*error, mutilation, failure, dysfunction, discrepancy, accident, unexpected change, chance discovery, the aesthetics of error, mass waste, project failure, project abandoned, disaster, mistake, flaw, inconvenience, misappropriation, side-effect, slip-up, flop.

With the launch of the VI Piemonte Share Festival, we invite you to come and take part in the conference organised jointly with the Park of Living Art, in partnership with Cinemambiente – Environmental Film Festival:

*Friday, 4th June, 2010*
Organised by Share Festival and PAV – Park of Living Art
in partnership with XIII Cinemambiente – Environmental Film Festival
PAV, Via Giordano Bruno 31 – Admission is free

8.30 PM /SMART MISTAKES/, round table conference
10 PM FILM FESTIVAL /Screening Another World is Plantable!/ (Germany, 2007, 40’) by Ella von der Haide
11 PM FILM FESTIVAL/ Screening I giorni della merla /(Italy 2009 – 52’) by Andrea D’Ambrosio, Carla Del Mese

The round table conference Smart Mistakes has been organised as a warm-up to the VI Piemonte Share Festival, and as a theoretical spotlight on the issues explored by the PAV in its programme.

The debate will specifically focus on error and mistake as the guiding thread of evolution, as every unexpected, and hence chance, result or finding in research can be seen alternatively as a problem to be resolved or as an exception to the rule. In nature, error is closely tied up with becoming and the impermanency of the life, but where error has particularly extreme consequences, it can cause genetic mutations and environmental imbalances.
Under the auspices of World Environment Day and with a look at the works of artists who have dedicated their artistic creativity to the causes of activism, the speakers will explore in an open debate how and when art once again began to embrace social issues such as the protection of the environment, and how new media have become the channels through which to voice social concerns. From the first ‘Netstrikes’ organised in Italy by Strano Network to the The Yes Men’s international hoaxes, artists have spared none of the perpetrators of environmental error, derailing websites, broadcasting false news, sending stock markets crashing and throwing entire on-line institutional organisations into havoc. All culture jamming actions that use situationist détournement to champion social causes through desecrating parody.
The event is part of the Giorno per Giorno 2010 programme, one month of contemporary art in Piemonte.

Speakers:
Piero Gilardi, artist and theorist; moderator
Simona Lodi, artistic director of the Share Festival
Franco Torriani, expert in new media
Tommaso Tozzi, artist and theorist

*/SMART MISTAKES/*
*2/7 novembre 2010*

*/Smart Mistakes
/*errori, mutazioni, fallimenti, disfunzionalità, discrepanze, incidenti, varianti impreviste, scoperte occasionali, estetiche dell’errore, scarto dalla massa, fallimenti progettuali, progetti irrealizzati, disastri, sbagli, imperfezioni, disturbi, appropriazioni, effetti collaterali lapsus, flop

PAV, via Giordano Bruno 31- ingresso gratuito

ore 20.30/ SMART MISTAKES/, tavola rotonda
ore 22.00 proiezione CINEMAMBIENTE /Another World is Plantable!

More Friends Of Brittany Murphy Speak Out Against Simon Monjack

3:30 pm

simon_monjack_2_wenn5085245__opt1__opt1.jpg

Stories are continuing to come out about Simon Monjack’s behavior while he was married to Brittany Murphy and after her death.

According to her friends, he had a nervous breakdown after her death, and now more friends are coming out saying that it was a “blessing” that he died.

Eric Ziegenbein, a former friend of Brittany, said of Monjack’s death:

People always say it’s a tragedy when someone dies, but in this case it’s more of a blessing. Simon wanted to die. He struggled with depression for much of his life, and he felt like Brittany was the only thing he had to live for. He was a full-blown drug addict by the time they were married, with not many prospects, and when she died he felt he had no reason for living. Their relationship was so destructive it was like they were both waiting to die and just poisoning themselves. It got more and more dysfunctional, until it finally killed Brittany. They were both zombies anyway. It’s not like they had any quality of life left. Sometimes death is a blessing for people who are suffering, and they were both suffering.”

Meanwhile, Brittany’s half brother Tony Bertlotti says he was not sad when he heard of the news that Monjack had died because he “helped kill my sister.”

He adds:

“The guy was insane. He tried to keep my father’s name off her death certificate. That’s two people that have died living in that house within six months. When are people going to open their eyes about what was going on there? My dad and I feel the same way; we are sad for my sister but not for him.”

So so sad.

Showtime: Destino, by Walt Disney and Salvador Dali

11:46 am

*Okay — “Destino” was just a blue-sky effort from 1946, a Dali-Disney collaborative project that was never produced. Not until it was reinvented and released as this pastiche-effort in 2003.

*But boy, is this thing ever weird. It really and truly feels like it comes from some radically different version of the 20th century. Maybe one where Andre Breton is prime minister of France. This is mainstream commercial American Surrealism. It’s like Norman Rockwell on acid.

*It’s that schlocky Disney old-fashioned animation that makes this piece so compelling… not just that it’s visionary, but that it’s from a lost counterfactual world.

Salvador Dali, furniture designer

11:46 am

*It’s slightly embarrassing to admit this, but some of this surreal Dali material from 60 years ago looks quite digital, blobjecty, peppy and up-to-date. In fact it’s low-key enough that it would pass in a hotel lobby without a second glance.

*Maybe it’s time for a lobster cellphone. More likely, one already exists.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Break Up

3:50 am

Spencer Pratt has finally gone too far! Heidi’s rep confirms the couple is separated and she’s looking to move out of their home!

Spencer Pratt has finally alienated the only person on the planet that loved him: his wife of a year-and-a-half, Heidi Montag.

“Heidi is looking to move out due to all the fake bad press that Spencer controls. She’s tired of it and is looking for a place and wants to focus on her acting career,” Heidi’s rep told TMZ May 28.

Trouble has been brewing for The Hills couple for awhile now, and came to a crescendo when Spencer, 26, called the police on Heidi’s mother a few weeks ago. “It wasn’t just a sudden thing,” a source tells the website.

We’re told Heidi — pictured here in Malibu last Friday — is looking for a new place to live … in Malibu.

Heidi, 23, is looking for a new home in Malibu and tweeted May 25, “I am not Heidi Pratt, I am Heidi Montag.”
